Game Thread Mens bball vs ASU

Apparently not much interest in this game. Pretty painful to watch so far as once again we are showing we are horrible in a half court game

Tyreek Smith struggling tonight and has missed 4 shots in the paint. Hudson & Williamson have put up some ugly threes. Hopefully the guys can get in going but currently down 18-12

Staying in this game because we are owning the offensive boards. Now 21-19 after a 7-0 run

Zhuric having a good game and has brought us back into this one. Looks like our guys are wanting to run more pick and roll offense but guards aren't coming off screens hard enough so bigs aren't getting any separation leaving guards to either force drives or come back out.

Strong finish to that 1st half has SMU leading 40-36. Phelps with 11 points and Harris with 10 and combined for 8-11 FGs. After a slow start SMU hit 44% of it's FGs and 33% from three. SMU with 8 offensive boards on 19 missed FG attempts

Meanwhile these late night games on the east coast are why I am so happy we are headed to the ACC instead of the PAC 12

Held ASU to 33% shooting in that half but they hit 42% of their threes and made 15 FTs compared to only 6 for SMU. Four SMU players with 2 fouls already

Complete role reversal in this 2nd half. ASU looking horrible in the half court and missing shots. SMU getting out and running and getting buckets in transition. SMU now up 11

ASU pressing and our guys are doing a really poor job against pressure. When we finally get the ball up court we blow what should have been an easy alley-oop bucket. Question remains whether this team can close games out as they've not done a good job this season

Really disappointing watching this team fold after ASU turned up the pressure. Williamson is such a poor shooter he's a liability having him on the floor at crunch time. Really pathetic performance at the moment. Eleven 2nd half turnovers. This ASU team is not a very good team but either are we. Williamson just fouled out. Too bad we don't have another talented three

Pathetic. We have a perimeter/guard oriented team that can't handle pressure defense. Blew a 13 point 2nd half lead. Really disappointing loss and it's becoming a pattern for these guys

I will repeat for about the 57th time…we are wasting time here. This is not the solution

I always want to say the best about players, but there is one that is continually a liability when he is on the floor. I keep hearing about how great he is, then he dribbles it off his knee, or throws it away in the corner. I don't blame him for the loss. This was a team meltdown. We need better from Everyone.

This was an SMU win with just a little extra effort.
