Good riddance. Need a massive upgrade to compete on a serious level in the ACC.

Is SMU targeting a guy who is well versed in TX and southwestern coaching and recruiting? Or is SMU going after a guy with ACC experience? Or is SMU going after the biggest hire it can sign?

SAS much as I hate to see any good possibility coming from any Dookie, I think you could do a whole lot worse than getting Chris Collins to lead you into the ACC. He knows the ACC inside out. He has extensive experience at elite private schools. What he has done at Northwestern is a near miracle for what is historically the very worst BT basketball program. I would not be surprised if Stanford were to target Collins.

We are still so minor league in many ways. Let’s see if they get “this one” right. Our history in hiring bball coaching studs is fairly limited. Dement, Matty D., Shumate, Tubbs…PonyUp!

Based on the way football has recruited (HS and transfers), it seems the "we've got to have a Texan" approach is over. If the players who give us the best chance to compete in the ACC all live on Mars, then start recruiting the Mars State (Planet) Championship Game.

I give Lanier credit for significant year over year improvement and developing a team that seemed to have good chemistry and (until yesterday) played pretty stout defense but ultimately the team that scores the most is going to win every time and our offense was really limited

When LB was our coach, I didn’t panic if we weren’t ahead at HT b/c I had confidence in our ability to come back & win.
The only confidence I had this year is that we’d lose the lead & game.

I am by no means an MBB insider but I hope that we look for someone with ACC or East Coast experience. National recruiting is the way to go because most of the top players are in the Eastern Time Zone and we have 6 other teams in P5 conferences in Texas without enough local talent to go around even if we get our share of them.

This kinda seems like they already have somebody(ies?) in mind. I expect a quick announcement about the next coach.

We did hire Doc Hayes and Larry Brown, so a good hire is possible.

Will Wade? He's won everywhere he's been, and Boulevard will take care of the deals.
