Love the idea of going after Eric Musselman

At least whomever we hire, will have a chance to be an ACC coach. That means something. The ACC coaches are household names. We should get some excellent candidates this time around.

In this era of college athletics with collectives and NIL opportunities for players, I think it will be critical to not only find a coach who has skins on the wall but is also in a position to bring some talent from his current team. Transition isn't easy so it would help to bring in some players who know the new coach's scheme and can assume leadership roles. We are going to need significant roster churn to compete right away in the ACC but it will also be interesting to see if the new coach can retain our most talented guys who fit his scheme.

I think you are right that this coaching search will be conducted on an entirely different level than what we've seen in the past. We dumb lucked into Larry Brown and he took our program to heights we haven't seen in decades. While Larry Browns don't grow on trees, we can at least hope to land someone top flight players will know about and really want to play for

Richard Pitino, Chris Collins, Shaka Smart….anybody under 50 years of age with some cred.

Wonder how Dusty May's contract reads? Davis, Martin & Goldin all have eligibility remaining. I thought those guys would bail after FAU's Final Four run last year. It will be fun speculating on how dramatically different the SMU roster might look like next year

It won't be May or the USF coach. We need to bring in someone who is used to recruiting at the highest level. It is going to be someone with a track record of high level recruiting, whether as a coach (Muss, Wade, etc) or an assistant (KT, Lucas, Sampson).

Apparently, Musselman’s a tyrant, a real joy to work and play for….I’ll pass.

Pitino is the only one of those I could imagine would even answer the phone if SMU calls.

Abdur-Rahim (USF) might be worth a phone call. If nothing else, we could get his sister to help recruit him.

Juwan Howard is out a Mi. Decent record- two big dance invites. not sure how tough B1G recruiting vs ACC.
I would be all in for Pitino but IMO chances of him moving are small.

What about Mark Byington? I’ll have a more informed opinion after Duke vs the Dukes tomorrow.

Michigan didn’t take long to grab Dusty May.

Will be interesting to see if he brings some of FAU's top players with him
