Did not Gene Phillips have a short NBA life? If so he was the best SMU player I ever saw in the NBA. Not the best NBA player but definitely the best SMU player. He was a thrill to watch. Always wondered if he actually had a pulse when he played.

Carlton McKinney had the best hair of any former SMU player, even better than Sasser's monster-'do.
But yeah, Koncak had the best career. That offer sheet he got from Detroit forever changed NBA free agency.

Sasser.
Not great in Orlando, but he's better than Koncak.

Koncac with no doubt. No one else stayed half as long in the league. If any others were good, who even stayed 4 years?

No, original offer sheet was from the world champion Detroit Pistons who offered Koncak a salary higher than Magic Johnson's. Atlanta countered.

The effect on the NBA was so profound it is still referred to as the "Koncak factor".
