Just saw the note on the home page about Coach Tubbs filling out his staff with Miami assistant Anthony Anderson (not the same AA who played for the Ponies). Says he's a stud recruiter - anyone know more about him?

Anderson comes to SMU after two seasons as an assistant at Miami (Fla.). Among his other duties at UM, Anderson helped put together one of the top recruiting classes in the nation in 2003, as Miami’s incoming class was ranked as high as eighth in the nation by Street & Smith’s.

Anderson joined the Miami coaching staff after spending two seasons as an assistant at the University of Texas at Arlington and one season as an assistant at Tulane, where he helped guide the Green Wave to a 20-11 record, the Conference USA National Division crown and a trip National Invitational Tournament.

Anderson also served two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of New Orleans. During his tenure with the Privateers, Anderson helped UNO record the school’s first road wins over Big East and Pac-10 schools and set school records for highest field goal percentage in a conference game and fewest points allowed in a conference game. The Privateers also led the Sun Belt Conference in scoring defense (63.9 ppg) and field goal percentage defense (.427) in 1998-99.

Anderson began his coaching career in 1995 as an assistant coach, recruiting coordinator and academic advisor at Paris (Texas) Community College, and also served one season (1996-97) as an assistant at his alma mater, McNeese State, helping lead the Cowboys to their first Southland Conference title since 1977-78. In his one season at McNeese State, the Cowboys had one of the most potent offenses in the nation. McNeese State ranked eighth in the nation in field goal percentage (.492) and 10th in scoring (82.0 ppg) en route to an 18-12 record. The team also set records for points in a half (68) and assists in a game (32).

Anderson was a starting guard for McNeese State from 1992-94 and earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1995. He served as a student assistant at McNeese State during the 1994-95 season. Prior to enrolling at McNeese, Anderson played two seasons at Lakes Community College in Esterville, Iowa, earning All-Conference honors. He is a 1990 graduate of Slidell (La.) High School, where he earned All-State honors and was named outstanding player in the district as a senior.

Anderson and his wife, Kimmy, have three sons, Anthony, Antwann and Andre.
