the one point OT thriller against Rice was followed by a 78-75 win against Tech and then a 60-53 win against the purple menace before they went on the road against Oral Roberts, A$M and Rice. After losing to Rice in Houston, it wasn't until the final home game against Texas that we clinched the SWC title. Of course, we'd all rather forget the way that season ended...losing to the purple menace in the 1st round of the SWC tourney and then losing to BYU in a 1st round NCAA game.

Again, I went to a couple of home games that year and was at the Texas game that Saturday afternoon. There weren't 5,000 in attendance. I saw the North Texas game (along with the usual 1500) and watched the OSU game that was played in Tulsa at Oral Roberts' arena. Big Country had his way with the outmanned Ponies that night.

I was at the SWC-clinching win over Rice, and if memory serves, it was damn-near full, if not completely.

Wouldn't it be nice to not live in the past all the time?
