Mustangs Stack Up AAC Postseason Honors

IRVING, Texas (The American/SMU) – Trevor Svajda and Adam Neff were honored to the American Athletic Conference's All-Conference Singles Team, with Neff and Huntley Allen earning an All-Conference Doubles Team selection on Wednesday. Svajda was also named the AAC's Freshman of the Year.

Svajda finished the regular season with a 16-6 singles record and five wins over ranked opponents while playing line one for the Mustangs. The freshman's impressive inaugural season spotted him as high as No. 33 in the ITA singles poll, and ended the regular season with the highest rank out of all AAC players (41). Svajda's All-Conference and Freshman of the Year honors mark his second and third conference awards after winning AAC Player of the Week on Mar. 19.

Neff earns singles All-Conference honors for the second year in a row in a season where he compiled 9 wins, including a ranked win over Cal's No. 67 Ryder Jackson on Mar. 11. The senior was named AAC Player of the Week two times in 2024 (Feb. 20, Mar. 12) to boost his career total weekly conference accolades to three. Neff finished the regular season ranked No. 119 by the ITA, reaching as high as No. 96 previously in the year. Neff, the 2023 AAC Player of the Year, has now earned All-Conference honors in either singles or doubles in each of his three seasons at SMU.

Neff also returns as an All-Conference doubles honoree for a third consecutive year, this time with fellow captain partner Allen. Neff and Allen went 6-3 as a duo on line one for SMU during the spring, which included three wins over ranked doubles squads. The captain duo placed its highest spot in the ITA's final doubles poll of the regular season at No. 27, marking the best rank of any doubles team in the AAC.

Both Svajda (singles) and Neff and Allen (doubles) were placed as automatic qualifiers for the 2024 NCAA Individual Championships on May 20-25 in Stillwater, Okla.

All-Conference singles players and doubles tandems were based on respective ITA rankings, with Player, Coach, and Freshman of the Year honors being voted on by the conference's coaches.

The Mustangs make their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance on Friday against Stanford at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla. Friday's first round match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. (CT).
