Men's soccer awaits NCAA pairingsFrom SMUMustangs.com:
Men's Soccer Falls To South Carolina 2-1 Nov. 12, 2010 MEMPHIS (SMU) - The No. 5 SMU men's soccer team was defeated by South Carolina 2-1 in a Conference USA Championship semifinal Friday night. Arthur Ivo scored for the Mustangs. With the loss, SMU moves to 15-2-0 on the season. Ivo scored SMU's lone goal in the 30th minute when he took a pass from Kekoa Osorio and fed the ball to the far lower corner from just inside the 18 yard box. The goal was his eighth of the season. Goalkeeper Craig Hill kept the Mustangs in the game with his solid play in net. Hill made five saves on the night, including several diving stops on South Carolina's leading scorer Blake Brettschneider. Hill also broke up numerous scoring chances by intercepting crosses and coming out to challenge balls. South Carolina tied the game at one when Brettschneider scored with just two seconds remaining in the first half. Brettschneider received a ball from Sam Arthur and took off down field, sending the ball in to the far lower corner. The Gamecocks went up 2-1 when Will Traynor headed in a corner kick from Stephen Morrissey in the 50th minute. SMU awaits the NCAA Tournament selection Monday at 3:30 on ESPNU to find out its next opponent. PonyFans.com ... is really the premier place for Mustang talk on the Web.

Re: Men's soccer awaits NCAA pairingsI still can't believe we gave up a goal so late in the half to those gamecocks.
Typical SMU luck. Hopefully we get a good draw and do well in the tournament. All negativity aside for the CUSA tournament loss, it has really been a great season. Hopefully it will continue for quite a while... Shake It Off Moody

Re: Men's soccer awaits NCAA pairingsSouth Carolina beat Tulsa 1-0 in double overtime to win CUSA today.
Re: Men's soccer awaits NCAA pairingsHow would you like to be the ref who calls a PK in overtime of a scoreless tie that's going to determine a conference tournament championship game?

... "Hit it."
Re: Men's soccer awaits NCAA pairingsIn the next hour we will know our pairings.
Here's a projected bracket. http://www.ncaa.com/auto_pdf/p_hotos/s_ ... Brackets20 Has us the 6th seed playing the winner of BC and West Virginia. After that We'd face the 11 UCLA or Bucknell/Michigan. 3 seed in our region is Maryland. If we got to the Semis, we'd play the Zips of Akron. Re: Men's soccer awaits NCAA pairingsAs brackets go, looks OK. It is winnable but will be tough. Guess I will go over and have my BB tickets scanned and then go to the soccer game.
Re: Men's soccer awaits NCAA pairingsGood luck!
Re: Men's soccer awaits NCAA pairingsInteresting selections. Big East garnered 7 invites. Big Ten 5, ACC 5, CUSA 4 and PAC 10 had 2. Thta makes a statement right there that CUSA is getting more respect in soccer. (Sure we had two SEC interlopers, but they count). I also note that the CAA had 2 selections as well as the MVC. Last year I think the ACC had six or seven selected.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Men's soccer awaits NCAA pairingsLet's do work and go far in the tourney!

Re: Men's soccer awaits NCAA pairings
Hope so, we've got men's soccer and football, and then an awfully long wait until next Fall. Bummer not having any spring sports. Hope we go very far.
