Perhaps they're preparing to add a men's sport?
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

The scholarship limit is still 15 either way, but I have always wondered if Equestrian has been fully funded since we only have Hunter Seat, so it is certainly possibly related.

Two things:

1. There is documentation on the NCEA website about how many scholarships each school has funded, and SMU has had all 15 funded - so we are going to have to figure out how to divide them between our current Hunter Seat riders and the new Western riders.

2. The first Western horse arrived today! No name given, but he/she looks cool!

Are there any real differences between a western horse and a regular equestrian horse? Or could they be interchanged?

I am certainly no expert, but I am under the impression their training and exercise regimen are totally different.
