Knost Named WAC Golfer Of The Month
SMU Wins Second Straight Award

DENVER (SMU) – SMU sophomore Colt Knost has been selected as the men’s Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Month for October, the conference announced today.

Knost, a native of Pilot Point, Texas, played in three events in October, posting a scoring average of 69.86. He earned medalist honors at the Club Grove Invitational in Malibu, Calif., besting a loaded field. He followed that event with a second-place finish at the University Club Intercollegiate in Baton Rouge, La., leading SMU to a seven-stroke team win over a tough field, including No. 1 Auburn, and a school-record tournament low of 825.

Knost joins fellow Mustang golfer Will Dodson in winning the award this season. Dodson won for September and SMU has swept the awards so far in 2004-05.

Other men nominated were Frank Buttacavoli of Rice, UTEP’s James Allenby and Ryan Henry of Tulsa.
