Steve Sandbo-National Soccer Team Selection

Postby mustangbill67 » Thu Jan 13, 2005 3:11 pm

Freshman goalkeeper Steve Sandbo was named to the U.S. Under-18 national team. The team is currently playing in a tournment in Mexico.
Steve started several games the past season but primarily backed up senior T.J. Tomasso. I assume he will be the starting keeper the next three years baring injury or going pro. Being selected to national teams is an excellent experience for the player and great for SMU.

This is huge -- for SS and for SMU.
Yes, he'll be the starting GK next year, without question.

Someone closer to the team than I am (and I follow them pretty closely) said Steve has the potential to be as good as the last two GREAT big goalies we've had, Byron Foss and Tom Presthus. If he's in their league .... wow.
