After the meet at Texas we may drop behind Arizona in the Women's polls, but I am curious why the men haven't broken into the Top 25 after the Dallas meet. Anyone have an idea? Also will the men stay "independent" next year?

You're right. Men need to crack the Top 25. If I guessed, we need greater depth, and not too mention too many times, a new aquatic facility for training Men and Women Swimmers and Divers as well as for recruiting nationally, not just overseas.

As for Men's afilliation after SMU joins CUSA, they will remain in the NIC (National Independent Conference), since the CUSA lacks Men's programs, unlike the Women, who will move from the WAC to CUSA.

However, one rumor is that the Big 12 needs more swim teams, especially since Nebraska, Oklahoma and Kansas cancelled their Men's teams. Don't be surprised if there isn't some step to bring the old SWC teams back together in some form.

Thanks for the insight. I wonder if the West C-USA couldn't hook up with the Big 12 in Men's Soccer and Swim/Dive as well. How many of each are there in the West C-USA anyway? Seems a natural fit and better press. Of course topping Texas in swimming would be a mighty challenge.

Sorry forgot that Men's Soccer will be a C-USA sponsored championship.

Topping Texas is a challenge but not insurmoutable. In the sixites, we never lost a meet or championship to the Horns.

But, the down payment is a new, indoor long course pool with diving well.

Oh, yes, but sadly once they beat us, I don't think we won again. They have soooooo much money, however, I went to the NCAA's there a year or so ago and found their facilities intimidating for the viewers. Too massive, like a gigantic barn. Do you like it? Who has a better set-up? The diving area is so far away, you need binoculars.
