Ugo Ihemelu Drafted by L.A. Galaxy of MLS

The Galaxy continued their defensive stockpiling at the MLS SuperDraft on Friday, taking defenders with both of their first-round selections. Sampson snagged Southern Methodist University defender Ugo Ihemelu with the fifth overall pick and then took University of California-Berkeley defender Troy Roberts with the eighth pick.

Happened in mid-January. Ugo's going to do extremely well in L.A., and I've heard talk that he has more than caught the attention of the coaches of the US National Team. How cool would THAT be! But let's not get ahead of ourselves - kick some major tail in MLS, then worry about an international career, or a spot on the National Team.

For my money, he's in the top five players since I've been watching SMU soccer.
