Women's tennis catapults up ITA polls
Mustangs are 15-5 on the season

April 4, 2006

DALLAS (SMU) - The current eight match win streak the SMU women's tennis team is riding has been the longest win streak as far back as the 2000 season and the number of come from behind wins this season might be a unique number as well. The Mustangs are also setting new records as they catapulted up the ITA poll this week to #47 as this marks the third highest ranking this season.

"We are pleased with the jump that we had in the ranking," head coach Rob Howarth said. "The girls deserve it. They have been playing very well and we hope to finish our regular season strong with the two upcoming matches leading into the conference championship."

SMU is coming off a three win weekend as they rallied past UTEP, blanked New Mexico St. and held strong for a win over Houston. The Mustangs have the week off as they prepare for two final matches against North Texas and Abilene Christian before heading to the C-USA Championship, April 20-23.
