Knost on Decision to Turn Pro Now

Postby DiamondM » Thu Oct 04, 2007 1:00 pm

Here's an interview from ESPN in which Colt talks about why he's going pro now rather than have definite amateur entries in the Master's, US Open, and the British Open.

I really had expected him to declare after the Masters, but his reasoning is solid and if he becomes who he should, he will be in the Masters many times.

I just think about a kid by the name of Bryce Molder from here in Arkansas who turned pro at near year end at a young age. He almost won his first tourney and got great 2nd or 3rd place money, almost enough to qualify for the next year. His game then began to show chicks, and he fell just short of qualifying money. Now he has struggled on the Nationwide for the past 3 or 4 years. I think he could have prepared for the big boys a little better. Good luck Colt.

I hope he learns how to dress appropriately when receiving an award on the football field in front of 8,000 fans. How embarrassing was that at the UTEP game? He looked like he just walked out of the trailer park. The 2 presenters had on slacks and sport coats - as did the president of the university. No-Class Colt had on faded jeans, untucked shirt and flip-flops. If you're going to be a professional ... LOOK PROFESSIONAL.

He didn't want to get barbecue sauce on his suit while partying on the Boulevard.

He was at a college football game, undoubtedly hanging out with college friends. I'd kick back and relax, too - he's going to have to play dress-up for his entire career.

BTW - He made the cut (just barely) in this weekends PGA event. Only 13 shots to tie and fourteen to go ahead.

49th place was good enough for $10,683. Not bad.

2670 per day, not a bad 4 days. He knows how to win, I think he'll do fine.

If he doesn't watch his weight, he'll be the next John Daly look alike.

He made another 16,000+ in Vegas (on the golf course), with 2 three putts from less than 10 feet. He is playing pretty well right now.
