Colt at Q-School

Tough first round 75, but it looks like he has steadied himself and is under par in his second round. 4 more rounds to go - plenty of time to go low.

Colt at Q School

75 - 70 - 72 so far, (around 132nd place) needs 3 good scores of 68 or better to have a chance.
Let's go Colt!!

I didn't see his name in the paper as having made it. Better luck next year.

He was back around 120th going into today. Maybe he can shoot an 18 and move up.

I assume with what he did last year he can get some invites and exemptions that might allow him to make enough to automatically qualify next year.

They finished up today. He was -6 after 6 rounds. Will not get full status on the PGA or Nationwide and will only have conditionally exempt status on the Nationwide. I would imagine he will get some sponsors exemptions, so hopefully he will have some good tourneys and it will get him up to the PGA.

Can he play on, or do you have to have a card for that? Does he still get his US Open invite? If so, a low enough placement there could net him an exemption. If he won it of course, he gets what a four year exemption?

Colt will have 8 sponsor exemptions on the PGA Tour for 2008 and will get into some great events.
AT&T Pebble Beach
Colonial
Byron Nelson
The Memorial
Harbor Town
Others to be named later...
He gave up the right to play in the majors once he turned pro, so now he musy qualify like all the other professionals, which means he has to win on tour or qualify through the $ list (for the majors) or local and regional qualify for the US Open.
Regardless Colt had an incredible year. Congrats Colt!

Colt screwed up. Not the end of the world, but no masters, no u.s. open anymore. Not even Nationwide anymore. Its back to the driving range...

Tough decision: Playing the open and Masters and basically no place else or taking a shot at the tour. Since I have no idea what I would have done, I can't criticize the choice.

Most golfers would give up those opportunities for the exemption into the masters and us open...

If he didn't try Q school he would be right where he is now, with sponsor exemptions into tournament, but he would also hold invitations to the open and the masters.

I realize money makes the world go round, but the opportunity to play in those two tournaments is pretty outstanding. I don't know what to compare it to. The experience alone is worth more than 27 grand.

you have not heard the last of Colt. Yes, he gave up the right to play at the two majors listed above, but he showed alot of confidence in trying to make the tour. Unless he gets derailed by injury he will be full time PGA by 2009.

Most guys dont go from college to PGA in one year, regardless of amateur success.
