SMU women’s soccer’s Lind earns Academic Momentum Award

By Pegasus News wire

SMU senior Jena Lind, a psychology major from Arlington, Texas, was one of 16 student athletes named as winners of the Academic Momentum Award, given through the "Scholar-Baller Program," in conjunction with the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS).

The Academic Momentum Awards will be presented officially Jan. 28 in Orlando, Fla., during the Founder's Luncheon of the NCAS Annual Conference.

Nominations were submitted by 23 colleges and universities across the country. The NCAS is a growing organization of colleges and universities that provides opportunities for current and former student-athletes to continue their pursuit of higher education while working in the community with children to address social issues. Established in 1995, the Scholar-Baller program was created to bridge the gap between education and sport, utilizing student-athletes' passion for entertainment and athletics.

This year's winners: Kristin Marie King (Rockhurst, golf); Anjelica Maria Selden (UCLA, softball), Domineque Scott (East Stroudsburg, field hockey); Lisa Geer (St. John's, softball); Lindsey Lee (Fairfield, volleyball), Kim Critten (Florida, basketball); Tara Langley (Ole Miss, volleyball); Jena Lind (SMU, soccer); Cesar Zambrano (Illinois-Chicago, soccer); Jon Toailoa (Northern Arizona, football); Jarryd Anderson (LaSalle, football), Tadeu Terra (St. John's, soccer); Dan Boudreau (Fairfield, lacrosse); Jaeger Good (Central Florida, baseball); DeAngelo Smith (Cincinnati, football) and Demarcus Conner (Oklahoma State, football).
