SMU Equestrian Defeats SFA 10-2 - Garvie and Collins Earn MVP Awards

DALLAS (SMU) --- The SMU equestrian defeated Stephen F. Austin 10-2 at the Park Lane Equestrian Center on Saturday. It was the second straight dual meet win for the Mustangs as they improve to 2-3 on the year.

SMU swept the MVP awards as Kathryn Garvie took the honor in equitation over fences with a team-high 81 points. Kristen Collins earned the top award in equitation on the flat with a meet-high 82 points.

The Mustangs won each session 5-1 and with a scoring margin of 415-387 in fences and 432-366 on the flat. SMU won the total 847-753.

Garvie, Collins, and Lauren Hester each collected two points on the day for SMU. Katherine Wilson and Eric Buie each had a point in fences while Renee DeLisse and Amanda Vining collected a point each in the flat event.

SMU Equestrian returns to action when it hosts Fresno State at the Park Lane Equestrian Center on Feb. 22.
