SMU Diving on Brink of Qualifying for NCAA Meet
Culbertson Finished Fourth on 1-Meter, Yancey Took Third on 3-Meter

HOUTSON (SMU)--SMU's divers ended the second day of the Zone D Diving Championships on the brink of getting bids.

Matthew Culbertson was the Mustangs' top finisher, taking fourth on the one-meter board with a score of 617.80. Britney Yancey took sixth on the three-meter board with a mark of 568.25, and Audra Egenolf finished eighth with a score of 549.40.

The Mustangs have so far been unable to qualify anyone for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships to be held later this month, but diving coach Jim Stillson is confident the third and final day will bring better news.

"We're in a holding pattern for now," said Stillson. "We didn't qualify anyone today, but Matt has a pretty good chance tomorrow. He's right there and he's got a pretty good shot. There's also a pretty good chance for either Audra or Britney to qualify. It's mathematically impossible for both girls to qualify now, but I think it looks good for one of them to go."

The Zone D meet wraps up Sunday, with the men's platform event at 10am and the women's platform at 12:30pm.
