Skrypko Earned the Honor After Winning His 10th-Straight Singles Match

IRVING, Texas (SMU)-- Alex Skrypko earned Conference USA Men's Tennis Player of the week for the week of April 8, as announced by the conference Tuesday.

The announcement comes on the heels of Skrypko winning his 10th-straight singles match in the first match of last Sunday's doubleheader. Skrypko defeated Ralph Knupfer of league rival No. 19 Rice in straight sets at No. 3, 6-0, 6-3. He also downed Ondrej Krivka of Southeastern Louisiana by the same count last Wednesday, 6-0, 6-3. Skrypko's singles record now stands at 14-6 (.700).

In doubles, Skrypko paired with Adolfo Solares at No. 2 to beat Chong [deleted] and Tobia Scheil of Rice, 8-6, clinching the doubles point for the Mustangs. The duo's record is now 3-1 (.750) on the season, and Skrypko's overall doubles record is 9-5 (.643).

This is the second career C-USA weekly honor for the senior. Skrypko last won the award Feb. 15, 2006.
