Three Men's Tennis Players Named All-Conference
Fahgen, Kuczer and Skrypko Honored by Conference USA

April 29, 2008

IRVING, Texas (SMU/C-USA)--Three men's tennis players were named Conference USA All-Conference, the league announced Tuesday. Robin Fahgen was honored with a first-team selection and David Kuczer and Alex Skrypko were both named to the second team.

Fahgen, currently ranked No. 112 in the country, spent most of the season in the ITA rankings, reaching his top ranking of No. 50 in February and March. Playing at the first and second spots in the lineup, Fahgen managed a 16-6 (.727) record, with five of his six losses coming to ranked teams. Fahgen won seven of his last 10 singles matches to end the regular season.

Kuczer has been one of the most consistent players for the Mustangs. Kuczer, also named to the C-USA All-Academic team, pieced together a 17-6 (.739) record playing in the first and second slots. At No. 1 singles, Kuczer managed a 10-4 (.714) record and won six of his last 10 matches. Kuczer was also named to the second team last season.

Skrypko ended the regular season on a team-longest winning streak. The senior won 12 straight matches at the end of the season, taking his record to 16-6 (.727). During the season, Skrypko defeated two ranked opponents; then-No. 94 Petrov from then-No. 15 Oklahoma State, and then-No. 102 of then-No. 18 Baylor. His efforts in the second and third spots helped the Mustangs to their best record since 2001 (20-8).
