Kuhner In Second At C-USA Championships
Sophomore Takes Fourth In Hammer

EL PASO, Texas - Lauren Kuhner took fourth in the hammer and stands in second place in the heptathlon following day one of the 2008 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Kidd Field.
Competing in the heptathlon, Kuhner took first in the shot, third in the high jump, fourth in the 100m hurdles and eighth in the 200m. She currently has 2,863 points and trails only Sheree Carter of UCF who has 3,118. The event will conclude Friday with the long jump, javelin and 800m run.
In the hammer, Kuhner threw 50.87m on her fifth attempt, which was good for fourth place.
C-USA All-Conference honors are awarded to the top three finishers in each event. The individual champions are named to the first team, while second-place finishers are awarded second team honors and the third team is comprised of bronze medalists.
Friday's running events get underway at 6:30 p.m. CT with the women's 1500 meters. The majority of Friday's events are preliminary races, building up to Saturday's championship races starting at 6 p.m.
