SMU Men 15th in NCAA RPI

The NCAA has released its first RPI (Ratings Percentage Index) for the 2008 season. It is a is a mathematical formula designed to objectively compare results and strength of schedule and is an important criteria used in determining the field for the NCAA Div. I tournament.

The top 25 RPI's are

4 Loyola (Md.) MAAC
5 Notre Dame Big East
6 Creighton Missouri Valley
7 Northwestern Big Ten
8 South Fla. Big East
9 UC Davis Big West
10 California Pac-10
11 Indiana Big Ten
12 Virginia ACC
13 Michigan Big Ten
14 Ohio St. Big Ten
15 SMU Conference USA
16 UC Santa Barbara Big West
17 Connecticut Big East
18 Charlotte Atlantic 10
19 William & Mary CAA (NR)
20 Maryland ACC
21 Akron Mid-American
22 UIC Horizon
23 Drake Missouri Valley
24 Tulsa Conference USA
25 Oakland Summit

As of Oct. 13 we have now fallen to 22nd. I imagine that we will fall further after our latest loss. Maybe now SO will start paying attention to our 'problem soccer team' as they will probably drop well below 25th.
Anyone taking bets on this team even getting selected for the NCAA tournament? Chances get slimmer every day.
OK- the sky isn't falling but our ratings are sure going to hell in a hand basket!!! :evil: :evil: :evil:
