Women's Soccer Faces Rice In C-USA Tournament

SMU vs. RICE
SMU holds an 11-3-0 mark in the all-time series against Rice. The teams squared off Sept. 26 in Houston, with the Owls defeating the Mustangs 2-1 in overtime. Amanda Burgardt netted the lone SMU tally when she headed in a free kick from Lauren Shepherd in the 69th minute to tie the game at one.
SMU DRAWS TULSA
The Mustangs closed out the regular season with a 1-1 tie against the Golden Hurricane Oct. 28 at Westcott Field. Tulsa tallied its goal in just the fourth minute when Stephanie Aitken fired a shot from 18 yards out in to the far upper 90 for a 1-0 Tulsa lead. With just eight seconds remaining in regulation, sophomore Kenzie Scovill tallied her second goal of the season when she headed in a ball from Shelby Hartweck to send the game to overtime.
MUSTANGS FALL TO KNIGHTS
SMU was defeated by Central Florida 3-0 Oct. 24. UCF started the scoring with a goal on a header just 1:11 in to the game. The Knights added goals in the 30th and 52nd minutes to cap off the win.
MEDEIROS DISMISSES GOLDEN EAGLES
SMU downed Southern Miss 3-1 Oct. 22. Senior Kristin Medeiros got the Mustangs on the board with her goal in the 27th minute. Less than two minutes later, Burgardt gave SMU the lead when her shot from point blank found the back of the net. Sophomore Allegra Nigh added insurance in the 67th minute with her first goal of the season. Medeiros assisted on SMU's final two goals to complete a four-point night. With the win, SMU clinched a berth in the conference tournament.
TIGERS DROP MUSTANGS
SMU fell to Memphis 3-0 Oct. 17 at Westcott Field. Memphis opened the scoring with a header just 4:53 in to the game. The Tigers added insurance with a goal just over two minutes in to the second half and another in the 83rd minute to secure the win for Memphis.
SHE SHOOTS, SHE SCORES!
Junior defender Kaitlyn Eidson took just nine shots this season, six of which were on frame. Five of her six shots on goal found the back of the net, as she led the team in goals (5) and game-winning goals (3).
NO GOAL FOR YOU!
Junior goalkeeper Courtney Webb set new personal bests in goals-against average (1.01), save percentage (.800) and shutouts (7) this season. Webb is tied for second in shutouts in C-USA, trailing only Houston's Camille Koski (8).

If the Mustangs defeat Rice, they will face tournament host UCF in the Conference USA semifinals Friday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. UCF is 13-3-3 o nthe year and 8-1-2 in C-USA action. The Knights downed the Mustangs 3-0 in Orlando Oct. 24.
