Three Named Academic All-District
Diogo de Almeida, Josue Soto and Adam Still honored

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU men's soccer players Diogo de Almeida, Josue Soto and Adam Still were named to the CoSIDA ESPN Academic All-America District VI Team the College Sports Information Directors of America announced. This is the first Academic All-District selection for de Almeida and Soto, and the second for Still.

de Almeida, a junior from Piracicaba, Brazil, is a Markets and Cultures major with a Spanish minor. The defender has helped lead the No. 5 Mustangs to a 14-1 start and the Conference USA regular season title. He has started all 15 games for SMU, playing 1368 of 1383 minutes this season. de Almeida was named to the C-USA Commissioner's honor roll in 2008-09 and 2009-10.

Soto, a senior from Houston, is a Spanish major with a minor in sports management. The midfielder leads the team in assists (7), is tied for third in goals (5), ranks third in points (17) and has converted two penalty kicks on the season. Soto has also collected three game-winning goals for the Mustangs, including one Saturday vs. Kentucky to clinch the C-USA title. A junior transfer, Soto was named to the C-USA Commissioner's honor roll in 2009-10.

Still, a junior from Colleyville, Texas, is majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. The defender scored his first career goal on a 75-yard shot against No. 17 Tulsa on Oct. 20. Still has started every game for the Mustangs and has played 1325 of 1383 minutes this season. He was a 2009-10 District VI All-American honoree. Still also received the C-USA Academic Medal and was named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in both in 2008-09 and 2009-10.

With these All-District selections, de Almeida, Soto and Still are all eligible to win Academic All-America honors later this month.
