IRVING, Texas (SMU) - Three SMU women's soccer players were selected All-Conference USA by the league's 12 coaches. Senior defender Lauren Shepherd was named First-Team All-Conference USA, while senior midfielder Kristin Medeiros and junior defender Kaitlyn Eidson received Second Team accolades.
Shepherd was named First-Team All-C-USA after playing all but four minutes (1864) for the Mustangs this season. She was tied for first on the team in assists (6) and tied for fourth in points (8). Shepherd scored the game-winner in SMU's 1-0 win over FIU to open the season Aug. 20.
Medeiros received Second-Team honors after leading the team in points (12) during her senior campaign. The midfielder tied for the team lead in assists and netted three goals on the year, including the game-winner against UAB. Medeiros was selected Third-Team All-C-USA in 2009.
Eidson, a 2010 Preseason All-Conference USA selection, played every minute for the Mustangs this season (1868). The defender led the team in goals (5) and game-winning goals (3). Eidson had a four-game goal-scoring streak (5 goals) Oct. 3-15, netting three consecutive game-winners Oct. 3-10. Eidson set new personal highs for goals and points (10) in a season. Eidson was also selected Second Team All-C-USA in 2010.
