EVANSTON, Ill. (SMU) - The SMU women's swimming and diving team is ranked No. 20 nationally in the first College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll of the season.

The Mustangs are 3-0 in dual meets this year. SMU opened the season by defeating Rice, 156-106, on Oct. 15 in Houston. The Mustangs also downed Wyoming (74-39) and North Texas (69-44) in a double dual meet on Nov. 4 at Perkins Natatorium.

The women placed third in the highly-competitive SMU Swim Classic Oct. 21-22, swimming against No. 3 Texas, No. 4 Florida, No. 17 Louisville, No. 18 Virginia and Wisconsin (receiving votes).

SMU boasts two 2011 Conference USA Swimmers of the Week in sophomore Nina Rangelova and senior Therese Svendsen. Svendsen holds the league marks in the 100-yard backstroke (55.32), the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.75, an NCAA B qualifying time) and the 200-yard I.M. (2:04.20).

Happy that our Women are ranked, but in Swimming & Diving, SMU should expect Top 10. As for Men, we are outside Top 25. It is a bit painful to witness. A least we have Men's Soccer.

Go Mustangs
"This is . . . dedication to distraction by fans. Is that what I'm going to go with Jay?"
"That poor kid has to be wondering what is dad doing."
