Adam Still tabbed honorable mention Scholar All-South Region

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU men's soccer player Diogo de Almeida has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar-Athlete All-America first team. Additionally, senior captain Adam Still was named honorable mention Scholar All-South Region.

de Almeida has a 3.52 GPA as he works toward degrees in Markets and Cultures, and Spanish. Last month, he was named to the Conference USA All-Academic team. de Almeida was a First Team Academic All-America District VI selection in 2010.

de Almeida was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year, was selected First Team All-C-USA and was named the Defensive MVP of the C-USA Tournament. The defender started 20 games for the Mustangs this season, netting four goals and averaging over 92.5 minutes per game. He had a three-game goal-scoring streak from Oct. 12-21, including back-to-back game-winning goals against FIU and Missouri State.

Still holds a 3.91 GPA in business administration. Earlier this month, he was named First Team Academic All-America. In November, Still received his second Academic All-Conference USA nod and was named First Team Academic All-America District VII. He was finalist for the 2011 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award and was named Second Team All-America by the organization. In 2010, Still was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America third team, was a District VI All-America and was named to the Conference USA All-Academic team. He was also a 2009 District VI All-America honoree. Still is a three-time C-USA Academic Medal recipient and a three-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's honor roll.

The Mustang captain led the team to the 2011 Conference USA Tournament title and a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament. He started 18 games this season, averaging over 91 minutes per game, and recorded two assists.
