IRVING, Texas (SMU) - SMU swimmer Rachel Nicol has been named the Conference USA Swimmer of the Week after earning two individual titles as the Mustangs were edged, 155-139, by No. 4 Texas Saturday afternoon at Perkins Natatorium.

The breaststroke specialist took first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.74, edging out fellow freshman Erica Donadon by one one-hundredth of a second (1:03.75). Nicol also won the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking in with a time of 2:15.48.

The award is the first of Nicol's career.

The Mustangs compete at the Conference USA Championships Feb. 15-18 in Houston.
