M-Soccer: SMU vs. Utah Valley (NCAA First Round)

SMU (13-2-4, 7-0-1) hosts Utah Valley (14-5-2, 6-3-1 WAC) Thursday night at Westcott at 7pm in the first round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

The Mustangs are making their 30th appearance in the tournament. The Wolverines are making their first.

The winner of this match faces Denver University in Denver Sunday evening.

1-0 SMU. Luckily this game picked up as it was putting me to sleep.

A good dose of bad first touches and terrible decision making on the ball from SMU dampened their possession and control in the 1st 45. Goal was a good piece of finishing off a lackluster save that should have been parried much better by the UVU keeper.

After this first 45, looks like the NCAA's were correct to not offer us a first round bye. Definitely need more decisive play.

College soccer clock is an abomination to the game. Goes from 45:00 to 0:00 each half. Stops on official indication such as foul and injuries. We had to change it for some reason...just had to.
