According to Second Century, an SMU alumni campaign fundraising newsletter, $16 million had been committed by supporters through August. However, the administration wants to secure another $6 million by October 1.

Although it has been too long in the making and funding remains incomplete, this announcement is certainly welcome. Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving has been a rich tradition at SMU, which may finally have a competitive facility for training, competition and recruiting.

Deep appreciation to those key donors, who are about to make this aquatic center a reality!

Thank you!

They want to add an outdoor pool but they don't think they'll be able to raise the roughly $6M prior to the groundbreaking in late Feb.

With the addition of this aquatics center, along with Trinity Forest, our Tennis Complex & Moody, are there even 10 schools with better S&D, Golf, Tennis & BB facilities than what SMU has.

I suspect USC does, really can't think of any other schools. I'm certain there are more, but I doubt very many.

Remember that many of the USC facilities were paid for by corporate sponsors of the 84 Olympics wherein USC was the site of a number of Olympic events. I recall the entire pool complex was sponsored by McDonalds.

don't forget we are about to have a state of the art IPF, which causes a brand new Soccer field. And our lacrosse - while only club (for now) - has a better field than most D-1 schools.
