Mustangs Stay Unbeaten With 6-1 Win Over Montana State
Bulgakova, Erkeeva, And Elliott Dominant In Singles Matches

DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women’s tennis team is now 4-0 after their 6-1 win over the Montana State Bobcats at the Ann and Brad Brookshire Family Pavilion at the SMU Tennis Complex.

The Mustangs were led by three dominant singles performances by seniors Vaszilisza Bulgakova and Yana Erkeeva along with junior Macie Elliott. Bulgakova (No. 2) earned the first singles point for SMU with a 6-2, 6-0 win over MSU’s Laura Middel, Elliott (No. 6) quickly followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Molly Crum and Erkeeva (No. 3) clinched the SMU team win with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Jessica Brycki.

Bulgakova also helped clinch the doubles point from the number one line with senior Hristina Dishkova as they won a back and forth match against Brycki and Angelina Philippova of Montana State. Dishkova (No. 1) also won her singles match 6-4, 6-4 over Naomi Holopainin, Dishkova is now 8-0 overall to start the season.

Junior Dasha Sharapova remained undefeated in the spring also as she won her No. 3 doubles match with Erkeeva over Linda Vink and Shelby Cerkovnic 6-2. Sharapova (No. 4) had to go to a tiebreak in each set to her singles match against Philippova 7-6 (1), 7-6 (5).

The Mustangs next match will be tomorrow as they welcome the Northwestern State Lady Demons to the SMU Tennis Complex at 5:00 p.m.
