Feb. 24, 2016

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AAC/SMU) - Following back-to-back top-five finishes to open 2016, senior Jenny Haglund has been named the American Athletic Conference's Women's Golf Player of the Week, league officials announced Wednesday. This is the first honor the league has handed out this spring.

At the Wesbtrook Invitational Feb. 21-22, Haglund finished tied for third, shooting a season-low 4-under (212), just one stroke off the lead. Haglund shot 3-under in the third round to help the Mustangs post the low round of the day (-6) to finish even and in fifth place. The 212 was the second-lowest round of the senior's career.

Haglund finished in a tie for fifth at the Florida State Match-Up, the Mustangs' 2016 opener, going 1-over, which included a 2-under in the event's second round.

In all, Haglund has registered top-10 finishes in four of the five events she has played in, and is currently ranked as the No. 58 player on Golfstat's national ranking along with the No. 14 rank in the region.

Haglund and the Mustangs are ranked a season-best 34th in the latest edition of the Golfstat rankings and return to the links March 5-6 for the SunTrust Gator Women's Invitational.
