Men's tennis falls to No. 17 Memphis

SMU Drops Match To No. 17 Memphis, 4-2
Lammons Earn 12th Singles Win Of The Year

Feb. 25, 2016

DALLAS (SMU) — The SMU Mustangs received singles victories from senior Nate Lammons and junior Yates Johnson, but ultimately fell to Memphis 4-2 inside the Ann and Brad Brookshire Family Pavilion.

SMU (5-4) opened doubles play with the first victory of the evening on court two thanks to the duo of Lammons and juniorArkadijs Slobodkins taking down Ryan Peniston and Felix Rauch 6-4. Memphis answered back by winning the next two doubles matches on court one and three to take a 1-0 lead.

Lammons put the Mustangs on the board to tie the match up at one apiece after his straight sets victory 6-4, 6-2. The Tigers regained the lead after a win on court five by Rauch over junior Markus Kerner 6-4, 6-4. The Mustangs once again tied the match after a victory from Yates 7-5, 6-4. Memphis went on to win the next two singles matches on court one and four to earn their seventh victory of the season.

SMU will be back in action on Saturday when they host a doubleheader beginning with Eastern Washington at 12:30 p.m. CT and closing with George Washington at 6 p.m. CT.
