Four Mustang Individuals Earn Wins At UT-Arlington
Johnson, Archer, Skatteboe, And Nlemchi Win Events At Bobby Lane Invitational

ARLINGTON, Texas (SMU) – The SMU women’s track and field team wrapped up competition at the Bobby Lane Invitational hosted by UT-Arlington on Saturday with four individuals finishing at the top of their events.

Freshman Latessa Johnson won the 100-meter dash, junior Holly Archer won the 800-meter run, senior Karoline Skatteboe won the 1500-meter run and junior Tochi Nlemchi won the shot put. This continues a season of top finishes for the four athletes.

Johnson’s 100-meter winning time of 11.52 was .13 seconds faster than the runner-up from Tarleton State. Mustangs’ senior Craishia Washington finished 8th in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash with her 100-meter time being 11.80 and her 200-meter time at 24.44.

Archer won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.29 finishing just about one second better than the runner-up from UTA. Skatteboe’s top finish in the 1500-meter was clinched with a time of 4:34.52 ahead of four other Mustangs in the top-11 of the race. Michelle Gaye (4:36.47) finished third, Agnes Sjostrom (4:39.05) finished fourth, Shanoah Souza (4:43.26) finished sixth, Anneke Grogan (4:44.60) finished seventh, and Justine Anthony (4:46.70) finished 11th.

Nlemchi’s shot put throw of 15.73 meters was tops among all competitors, including teammate Jacquetta Cannon who finished fourth with a throw of 14.17 meters. Nlemchi and Cannon also finished sixth and eighth respectively in the hammer throw with Nlemchi’s best throw reaching 48.19 meters and Cannon’s reaching 46.62 meters.

SMU will send competitors to three different events next week as they are scheduled to compete in the Texas Relays on March 31 through April 2, the Bobcat Invitational on April 1-2, and the Stanford Invitational April 1-2.
