From SMUMustangs.com:

DALLAS (CSCAA/SMU) — The SMU men's and women's swimming and diving programs completed the year with their second College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) honor of the season after earning Scholar All-America accolades, the organization announced Wednesday. As programs, both the men and women were recognized following the fall semester as well.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the spring semester. This concludes a run of eight straight semesters for seniors on both sides of the program, as they have earned the honor fall and spring each year on the Hilltop.

The Mustang men posted a 3.40 GPA to put them top 10 of 95 eligible Division I men's teams. The team improved on a 3.34 mark from the fall semester and is back in the top 10 after posting their highest GPA ranking of seventh (3.42) following the 2015 spring semester.

On the women's side, SMU posted a 3.49 GPA to place them in the top third of the 172 Division I women's squads to earn the honor.

The CSCAA will next release individual Scholar All-America and Honorable Mention selections. To be selected to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship. Honorable mention selections have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at their respective qualifying meets.

Im proud of our swimmers for all they have done at SMU. They must be a special group. I also look forward to the new pool and believe it will be appreciated by our athletes.
