SMU Earns GCAA All-Academic Award

NORMAN, Okla. (SMU/GCAA) – The SMU men's golf team was named a 2016 All-Academic team, as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America. SMU, which recorded a 3.37 team GPA, is one of 113 Division I teams to earn the honor.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a team must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher and the college or university must submit the GPA for each player on its official squad list for the academic year. The Mustangs join fellow American Athletic Conference teams Cincinnati, East Carolina, Memphis and USF on the list of honorees.

SMU had a successful 2015-16 academic year in the classroom, headlined by two Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar honors by senior Andrew Buchanan and recent graduate Ryan Burgess. On the links, the Mustangs finished in the top-six, six times, including tournament victories at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate and The Farms Collegiate Invitational.
