Mustangs Grab Several Top Finishes At Tulsa Fall Invitational

Nov. 5, 2016

CATOOSA, Okla. (SMU)— The SMU rowing team posted several top-three finishes at the 2016 Tulsa Fall Invitational on the Verdigris River this weekend.

In the Novice 4, the Ponies earned a first place finish with a time of 17:24.1, beating three Kansas Jayhawk boats. The second Novice 4 boat finished fifth with a time of 20:30.5.

Molly O'Connell, Savannah Moody, Lauren Vanek, Samantha Kurtz, Alyssa Sands, Brittany Rigg, Emily MacAdam, Ashley Wagner and Adelaide Moore made SMU's top crew in the Varsity 8+. They clocked in at 14:32.0 for a third place finish and was followed by an eighth place Mustang crew that finished 15:34.2.

In Varsity 1x action, SMU crews finish third (19:43.5), fifth (20:13.0), sixth (20:20.3) and seventh (20:42.6). In Varsity 4 competition, the Mustangs finished sixth with a time of 16:17.4, 11th with a time of 17:38.8, and 13th with a time of 17:38.2.

The Mustangs grabbed another first place finish in the Varsity 2x with a time of 16:30.4. SMU also earned third place (17:43.7), fourth place (18:07.2) and fifth place (20:04.3) finishes.

Great to see rowing making progress I am sure all of that time on the erg in Moody is helping!

I need the straight dope. Is that a big improvement? We got drilled by every team in the conference in every event last year at AACs.

Same with equestrian, we're ranked #4(?) in the country then get ripped by Baylor in every facet.

I can't tell if we're improving or if it's just spin.
