No. 6 SMU Takes Down No. 5 Fresno State, 15-4
Twelve Different Riders Earn Wins; Gray Claims Both Hunt Seat MOPs, Steed Wins Reining MOP Honor

DALLAS (SMU) –Five different hunt seat riders and seven different western riders earned victories, as the sixth-ranked SMU equestrian team won all four disciplines, en route to a 15-4 victory over No. 5 Fresno State Friday at the Dallas Equestrian Center. With the win, SMU improved to 4-2 overall, with a 2-0 mark in United Equestrian Conference action.

The day started with Equitation Over Fences, where SMU took an early 4-1 lead. Haley Zimmerman opened scoring with a 55-35 victory over Kylina Chalack, before Nora Gray claimed the discipline MOP with an 87-77 win over Natalie Wendt. Vivian Yowan knocked off Brooke Nelson, 80-60, before senior Sylvia de Toledo won her first event of the day and closed out the discipline with an 85-70 win over Paige Pastorino.

In reining, the Mustangs won 4-1. Senior Jaclyn White won 68.5-67.5 to open the round, before Olivia Pakula used a 69.5-67 decision to top Paige Barton. Keagan Snively beat Taylor Brown, 65.5-62, before Madison Steed posted an MOP-winning 69.5 to best Taylor Dixon, 69.5-69.

SMU won Equitation on the Flat, 4-0. de Toledo defeated Chalack, 71-64, before Gray claimed her second MOP of the day with a 78-63 decision over Sierra Swaffar. Alexandra Murphy won her second consecutive point and clinched the discipline win with a 74-55 victory over Wendt. Zimmerman knocked off Madelyn Keck, 79-70, to claim the final point.

The Mustangs topped the Bulldogs, 3-2, in horsemanship. Michaela Dinger bested Dixon, 72-71, before Ashley Mauney rolled to a 73-67 win over Maddison Robinson. Senior Hannah McCain rounded off the discipline by knocking off Taylor Brown, 71 -67.0

SMU will celebrate senior day tomorrow as it hosts No. 9 New Mexico State at 10 a.m. The Mustangs will honor their 10 seniors at 9:30 a.m. CT.
