Page, Summers Named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Florida (WGCA/SMU) – SMU women's golfers Katie Page and Faith Summers were named Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars, the organization announced Wednesday. This is Page's fourth honor, while it's the first for Summers after one season on the Hilltop. To be selected for the honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher.

Page played in 33 tournaments as a Mustang, including eight during her senior season, finishing with a career scoring average of 77.34. Overall, she finished with a pair of rounds in the 60s, 11 rounds at par or better and had her best career performance as a junior when she tied for third at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational. In addition to her WGCA honors, Page also earned All-American Athletic Conference academic honors each season at SMU, and was named to the SMU Honor Roll in the fall of 2013 and spring of 2014. Page graduated in May with a degree in business administration.

Summers played in eight of the Mustangs' 12 tournaments during the 2016-17 season, earning her highest finish at The American Championship where she tied for fourth. She ranks third on the all-time freshman list and was 10th overall in a single season with a 74.50 average, finishing with seven rounds at par or better.

This Mustangs made their 15th NCAA appearance, and fifth consecutive NCAA Regional appearance. SMU finished second at the American Athletic Championship in April and was ranked as high as No. 20 during the 2016-17 season. Lindsey McCurdy, Brigitte Dunne and Kenzie Wright all earned all-conference accolades for the Mustangs. The Ponies also produced program records for season scoring average (293.35), most rounds at par or better (8) and most birdies (417).
