Opening of the Robson & Lindley Aquatic Center

Postby Water Pony » Tue Nov 07, 2017 3:48 pm

Dear Ponyfans:

It was more than a twenty year effort, but the new Robson & Lindley Aquatic Centers and Barr-McMillion Natatorium opened last Friday. More than 850 people were in attendance. Almost $22m was raised privately to fund it. Hundreds of former swimmers and divers were there. Friends of SMU Swimming and Diving turned out to share in this event. The only disappointment was Coach Mac couldn't be there due to his health.

My passion and that of many others, e.g. Pocono Pony, has been shared on this site for more than a dozen years. Thanks for your support and encouragement along the way.

This new Aquatic Center will be a new foundation to build on our rich swimming & diving traditions.

Well congratulations WP, Pocono and others. It was a long hard fight.

SMU community should be extremely proud of the support you and others have given.

Question to anyone who has seen our new facilities. Any insights you want to share?

I do have a question. Will the facility be open to the public for a masters swim hours?
