The senior was named The American Player of the Week twice, and she scored a career-high 27 kills against UTSA, tied for fifth all-time in a match at SMU. She could become the first SMU player since Dana Powell in 2010 to have 400 kills and 400 digs in the same season.

Hegarty earned her second straight first-team selection after averaging 3.00 kills per set for the season. She played in just 63 sets, missing extensive time due to multiple injuries, but played in 51 of SMU's 75 sets in conference play, averaging 2.84 kills with a .227 attack percentage.

Adams was second on the team with 344 kills, ranking ninth in The American at 3.19 per set, and the junior averaged 3.23 per set in conference matches to earn her first postseason award. Adams also averaged 3.11 digs per set against league opponents, and had 13 double-doubles overall. She scored at least 10 kills 21 times, including a career-high 23 kills at Houston, and matched her career-high with 21 digs against the Cougars.

Patterson earned a second all-conference award, earning second-team honors and Freshman of the Year in 2016. As a sophomore, she ranked third in the league with 10.12 assists per set while guiding SMU to 13.37 kills per set, third in the league, and a .202 attack percentage. She posted 14 double-doubles, averaging 2.47 digs per set. She finished with a career-high 60 assists against Temple, and eclipsed 50 assists five times.

SMU went 21-10 during the regular season, winning 20 matches for the fifth straight year, and finished tied for second in The American with a 15-5 conference record, earning at least a runner-up finish for the fifth time in five seasons. SMU won back-to-back conference championships in 2015 and 2016. The Mustangs play Texas Tech in San Marcos, Texas, Thursday at 4 p.m. in the first round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
