Noah's 1st round 72 at the Nelson was respectable and better than some of the world's top players, but he needs to get low Friday to make the cut and play the entire tournament

Noah's plus 6 finish at the Nelson is a reminder how tough it is at the next level...but good experience to have an opportunity to play with the best

To finish the year ranked 85th in men's golf is sad...its very easy to make NCAA Regionals in mens' and women's golf, you essentially just have to be ranked in the top 60. Its time for change, both of these programs are terribly underachieving even with Trinity Forest. Both teams should be consistent top 20 teams.

You could say the sane about football and basketball. They are ranked about the same. Equestrian is our only reliable top 20 team.

Pretty easy to be ranked in top 20 in equestrian as there are only 19 teams that compete in Division 1...no comparison to football or basketball however, golf should be a powerhouse program at SMU, as should Tennis. Facilities might be the best in the country, and its fits SMU image. Program is in serious decline, yes some better recruits coming in but they have to develop and be coached. Program has gotten worse over last 3 years steadily, missed Regionals 3 straight years. Thats a sign of poor coaching and inability to develop players. The program is at an all time low

And to supplement his Nelson experience, Noah's plus 19 finish at the U.S. Open is yet another great learning experience...not to mention as tough a golf course as he will be playing again anytime soon.
