Equestrian: SMU Hosting Conference Championship

The Ponies are hosting the United Equestrian Conference Championship this weekend!

For the first time in program history, the SMU equestrian team will host the United Equestrian Conference championship. The event runs March 30-31 at the Dallas Equestrian Center, with day one starting at 10 a.m. and day two starting at 9 a.m. Admission will be free on both days. Fans can visit the Championship Central on SMUMustangs.com for event information, as well as live coverage links.

March 30 - 10 a.m. CT - Live Scoring
No. 1 SMU vs. No. 4 South Dakota State
No. 2 UT Martin vs. No. 3 Fresno State

March 31 - Consolation: 9 a.m. CT / Championship: Approx. 12 p.m. CT

The top-seeded SMU equestrian team claimed its first conference title in program history, defeating No. 3-seed Fresno State, 13-3, in the United Equestrian Conference title round Saturday afternoon at the Dallas Equestrian Center.

"They were unbelievable. This team is so good and I'm so proud of them," SMU head coach Carol Gwin said. "This is the first conference championship [in program history], which is huge for the program. It has been our goal over the last four years and I couldn't be prouder of what we have built and where the program is going."
