Krzyzaniak, Popov Named CSCAA Academic All-Americans

NORFOLK, Va. (CSCAA/SMU) – Bartosz Krzyzaniak and Stefan Popov earned College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honors, the organization announced.

To be selected to the first team, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Honorable mention selections have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at their respective qualifying meets.

The duo posted NCAA B cuts in their respective specialties during the 2017-18 season, with Popov pacing the Mustangs in the 100-yard breaststroke and Krzyzaniak posting the second fastest time in the 100-yard backstroke. This is the third CSCAA Academic selection for both Popov and Krzyzaniak.

The seniors wrapped up a successful four years on the Hilltop this season. Krzyzaniak posted eight NCAA B cuts, was part of five conference championship relays and earned 13 all-league honors, while Popov posted four NCAA B cuts and was a two-time all-conference selection.

As a team, the Mustangs also posted a grade-point-average above the 3.00 required for CSCAA Scholar All-America team honors and placed 20 individuals on the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, which requires student-athletes to have obtained a 3.00 for the preceding academic year.
