Three Mustangs Earn Week UEC Rider of the Week Accolades

DALLAS (SMU)—By virtue of their performances in the No. 4 Mustangs' 11-8 win over No. 5 Georgia, Aubrey Alderman, Ashley Mauney and Vivian Yowan earned UEC Rider of the Week recognition, the NCEA announced Monday.

This season the Mustangs are undefeated at home and on the road, 3-0. Additionally, they have clinched wins in both an exhibition and scrimmage.

Alderman earned Reining Rider of the Week after defeating UGA's Courtney Blumer on Mercedes, 71-68. Alderman has combined for three points and a tie in competitions this season for the Mustangs.

Mauney won Horsemanship Rider of the Week after winning against Georgia competitor, Lila Owens, by posting the highest horsemanship score (75.5) of the meet as part of a 4-1 win for SMU's horsemanship team. Mauney was also named Most Outstanding Player in Horsemanship, her first MOP of the year and third of her collegiate career.

Continuing her undefeated streak on the flat in meets this season, Yowan was crowned Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Week after besting the Bulldogs' Stella Martin on Hamilton, 86-75. Yowan also won her point in Equitation over Fences, riding Dillon for an 88 at Saturday's contest. The Darien, Connecticut, native, also notched her 20th win on the flat for SMU and 46th point overall.

Up next, the Mustangs will host the Fresno State Bulldogs (Oct. 27) and TCU Horn Frogs (Nov. 10), before continuing a challenging schedule on the road, traveling to Delaware (Nov. 16-17) for meets against UEC adversaries Delaware State and UT-Martin.
