Ponies No. 1, Fahim gets robbed

OK, we're all proud to see the Ponies ranked No. 1. But I have questions about this website that did the rankings. First of all, I'm a soccer freak and never heard of it. Second of all, they don't seem to know that Carl Bussey ripped up his knee in the spring, yet they still named him preseason All-America. He deserves the honor based on past performance, of course, but....

On top of that, midfielder Diego Walsh, who's arguably the best player in the country, made the website's All-America Second Team, and goalkeeper Byron Foss made the Third Team. They are terrific players and deserve all the accolades they get.

But how the hell does Mohamed Fahim score a goal a game -- 25 in 25 games -- and not make any of the All-America lists? He was All-America last year by most voting organizations, and he was a finalist for both of the major national Player of the Year awards. To say this guy doesn't even make Third Team is an absolute joke, and speaks volumes to the credibility of College Soccer News.

At least they got their lists of top players at each position right. Carl Bussey is listed among the nation's top defenders (of course, when he comes back from his knee injury he's so talented and versatile that Coach Hyndman could play him at midfield or forward), Diego is listed among the top midfielders in the nation, and they actually remembered to include Mohamed Fahim among the top forwards. Weak recovery by the website for leaving Fahim off the All-America lists.
