Boland Named Offensive Player Of The Week, Meehan Named To Weekly Honor Roll

DALLAS (SMU) – Standout performances in week two of play earned junior Jewel Boland American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday.

In No. 25 SMU's 9-0 win over Texas Southern, Boland tallied two goals, five total shots, three shots on goal and one assist. On Sunday night, she led the Mustang offense with five of the team's 16 shots, with one of them being on goal.

Boland currently leads the team in shots for the season with 12 and is tied with fellow junior, Hannah Allred, for most shots on goal with five.

Senior Mary Meehan earned a spot on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll for her defensive performances. She played 60 minutes and had one assist in SMU's shutout over Texas Southern and saw all 90 minutes during Sunday's game against TCU. Meehan helped lead the defense against TCU with multiple stops, holding the Horned Frogs to only three shots on goal throughout the match.

SMU will face Northern Colorado at home on Friday, Sept. 6 at 5:30 p.m. CT.
