Duke is not Methodist at all anymore. Wake Forest isn’t Baptist anymore, either.

SMU was great tonight. Hope the team maintains that level of play.

The victory over Duke was even more impressive considering that center back Philip Ponder — one of the team captains who never leaves the field — had to leave with an injury. Ponies didn't miss a beat and shut out the No. 2 team in the country on its own field.

Also, goalkeeper Shane Lanson is the Mustangs' backup but has been playing as in injury replacement. He has played in five games, starting four, and has yet to give up a single goal. The count goalkeepers' minutes without a goal, and the sophomore has gone 374:59 so far without surrendering a goal. (Now that I said that, I'll apologize to Shane if he surrenders one next time out.)

Mustangs are outscoring their opponents, 21-1.

Lanson had multiple point-blank saves. Great game. Pulisic's cousin was decent for Duke but not on the same level.

PS Yes, Duke Divinity School is still UMC-affiliated.

I would take a Men’s Soccer NC over a Birmingham Bowl win any day of the week.

Thanks for posting this LA.

That’s because it’s football.

Now they just need to make an “American Football” thread too

Dumb. There is just real football and the one where people run around kicking a ball and end with a score 0 - 0. Glad we have a team that's great but soccer is a snooze fest.

In 99.99 per cent of the world american football is called gridiron and and the round ball game is called football. Does not bother me I enjoy the skill sets in both.
