SMU's Diego Walsh named to 2002 Verizon Academic All-America first team
Second consecutive honor for MVC Player of the Year

DALLAS (SMU) -- SMU senior midfielder Diego Walsh (Miami, Fla.) has been selected to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-America Men's Soccer University Division first team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It is the second straight year in which Walsh has been named to the Verizon Academic All-America Men's Soccer University Division first team. Walsh is also the only Missouri Valley Conference player selected on either the first, second, or third teams.
Walsh, the 2002 Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, leads the seventh-ranked Mustangs with 17 goals and five assists. Majoring in business, Walsh sports a cumulative grade point average of 3.40.
